It also triggered a GOP blast
at Nassau County Executive Nick-erson
for "irresponsible polit-ical
actions which undou^edly

decision to request an increase,"
Obviously angered by^ the fare

"that there be a clear demon-stration
of the relationship be-tween
this proposed fare in-crease

LIRR services".
2, The GOP unit will urge
that public hearings be held in
Nassau and Suffolk as well.
" I t s ridiculous to hold hearings

. "This grandstand campaign
play by Mr. Nickerson, an i r -
responsible political act which
payed off for him at the polls,
has undoubtedly contributed to the
LIRR's present financial situa-tion
and has backfired on the
poor commuter," they said.
"Mr. Nickerson's professed
shock at news of the fare hike
request is political cynicism of
the highest degree."
