Hon, Francis X. Becker, Mayor

the building to the citizens
of Lynbrook in a moving address

so hard to help in makii^ the
new Village Hall a reality. He
threw the main switch and the
whole building became brilliantly
lit and invited the crowd to tour
the new building at the conclu-sion
of his address.
The new Village Hall is some-thing
new on the Long Island
Scene, being a sort of square
modern type building with white
pillars and steps leading up to the
upper levels and a portico com-pletely
surrounding the building.
The main meeting room or ro-tunda
chamber seats 108 com-fortably
and can easily hold over
200 people. The lighting and
acoustics are excellent and the
main dome on the top of the ro-tunda
is lit up at night and makes
it look like a small U.S. Capital
building. The Lynbrook Police
Dept. is housed on the lower level
and the lower level will also con-tain
a new Teen-age Recreation
Center furnished with a "juke
box," soft drink machines and
candy machines, etc.
The school Crossing Guards of
Lynbrook, the Ladies Auxiliary
of the Lynbrook Fire Dept., mem-bers
of the Lynbrook Fire Dept.,
the Chamber-Lyns, the Junior
Chamber of Commerce of Lyn-brook
and many organizations
such as contingents from the
V.F.W., the American Legion and
village employees who volun-tarily
remained to welcome the
hundreds of residents and guests,
who toured the new Village Hall,
The Boy Scouts and the Girl
Scouts did an excellent job dur-'
ing the ceremonies and after.
Police Chief Walter Waring and
members of the Lynbrook Police
Dept. did a remarkably fine job
as well .as the men of the Lyn-brook
D.P,W. The Dedication
Committee who worked so hard
for many months to perfect the
plans for the dedication headed
by Mr, Herbert Koehler with
Trustee Bill Buzzeo as Liason
from the Village Board of
Trustees deserve a hearty
congratulation on the cere-monies,
as well as all the unsung
people who helped to make it a
night to remember in Lynbrook
history. The Dedication Commit-tee
