Mayor Thomas L, Driscoll Jr. purchases first
poppy from Mrs, William Wilson, poppy chairman
of Malverne American Legion Auxiliary Unit M4,
inaugurating sales in Malverne through Memorial
Day, May STst, 1971.
Lj^nbrook Mayor Francis X, Becker, center, buys the first p<^py in the
Village to start the 1971 program. He is making the contribution to Don Burk-hord,
Jr. Vice Commander of the VFW who is this year's Buddy Poppy
Chairman. Looking on is Mrs. Ann Barbato who, moments before, pinned
the Mayor's poppy on. She is Buddy Poppy Chairlady of the Ladies Auxiliary
of the veterans of Foreign Wars.
Caddis Park
Dedication
On Sunday, May 30th at 2 P.M.
the dedication of Gaddis Park
near the Westwood Station will
take place. Mr. Gaddis is a form-er
Mayor and Trustee of the Vil-lage
having served with dis-tinction
for many years. The
Master of Cere monies for the day
will be Trustee Stewart R. Mor-row.
There will be an address
and presentation to Mrs. Gaddis
by Mayor Thomas L. Driscoll,
J r . Presiding Supervisor Francis
T. Purcell will be the guest
speaker. Invocation and Benedic-tion
will be given by Reverend
Andrew Yoggy of the Community
Presbyterian Church. The Na-tional
Anthem and other selec-tions
will be played by the Corona
Avenue School Band under the di-rection
of Milton M, Combs as-sisted
by Bernie Bricker.
Eugene Krause
To Be Feted
Eugene O. Krause, for 25 years
an outstanding community leader,
will be honored by his friends
and neighbors at dinner on June
8th at 7:30 p.m. in the Lynbrook
Elks Club, Hempstead Avenue,
Lynbrook, N.Y.
Mr. Krause has served on the
Town of Hempstead and County
of Nassau's Republican Executive
Committee for the past ten years,

MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY, MAY 31, 1971
The Parade will begin at 10:00 A.M. Sharp, following the same
route as in the past. Main Street to Ocean Avenue, Ocean Avenue,
to Center Avenue, Center Avenue to Atlantic Avenue, and Atlantic
Avenue to Memorial Park.
After the First Division has vacated the area in front of the
V.F.W, Club House, and while the Second Division moves into the
line of march, the Third and Fourth Divisions will move out of
Grant Avenue and stand ready in front of the V.F.W. Club house.
Please allow ample space between all units.
At Memorial Park the National and Organizational Colors of
all contingents will pass the stand and move into position inside
the memorial semi-circle.
All bands and marching units will continue to James Street,
march into the park at the rear of the Rescue Building and take
their position in the designated areas. Only the Civil Defense
Unit will be allowed to fall out for they will maintain order during
the ceremonies.
The Fire Etepartment marching contingent will execute a "right
flank march" and take their position at the sidewalk near Columbia
Avenue. All fire apparatus and other participating vehicles will
continue down Atlantic Avenue and out of the area of the cere-monies.
With full cooperation the ceremonies can get under way without
interruption and proceed with all due respect to this solemn occasion.

The Lynbrook Veterans Memorial Day Committee has com-pleted
its program for its annual Memorial Day Parade and Cer-emonies
to be held on Monday, May 31st, 1971.
The following are the Organizations, Guests, Clergy and Bands
who will participate.
Grand Marshall is P.C. Charles Vollmer, /eterans of Foreign
Wars.
Parade Marshal is P.C. Nicholas G. Kalpakas, American Legion,
Treasurer is P.C. William Woolsey, P.C. American Legion.
Division Marshals are (2nd) John DeSano, V.F.W., (3rd) Albert
Montermaranno, A.L., (4th) Louis DeSano, V.F.W., (5th) Leonard
Purcell, V.F.W., (6th) Frank Hillgardner, F.C.
The Organizations will include. The American Legion Post
#335, Howard-Lathrop Post #2307, Veterans of Foreign Wars,
Lt. John J. French Chapter #125, Disabled War Veterans, The
Ladies Auxiliaries to the Veteran Organizations, Sons and Junior
Groups of the Veterans, The American Training Corps, Inc., The
