Jerry Sanetti, Deputy Building
Inspector of the Incorporated
Village of Lynbrook is an intense
intelligent man who covers a lot
of ground and accomplishes an
incredible amount of work each
day in keeping his busy schedule.
He was born in Ozone Park,
Queens but was brought here by
hie parents, the late Joseph and
Virginia Sanetti at the age of six
months, so that Lynbrook could
be called his own "home town."
His sister, Mrs. Gloria D'Auria,
widow of the late Tony D'Auria is
a long time member of the Dow
Club of Lynbroc*.
Jerry graduated from Lyn-brook
schools, including West
End and Lynbrook High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy in
World War II in both the Atlantic
and Pacific Theatres of War as a
Chief Gunners Mate in a crack
Gun Crew and has had the ex-perience
of having his ships
torpedoed and lost at sea. The
battles with enemy submarines is
something he would rather
forget.
He was in business for himself
in Lynbrook in the food line until
he became Deputy Building
Inspector in 1%7, for the In-corporated
Village of Lynbrook.
Jerry is married to the former
Frances Caunizzaro since 1936.
The couple have a son, John, who
resides in West Palm Beach,
Florida with his family. Jerry
and Frances are very proud of
their three fine grandchildren,.
Marie, age 11, Jackie, age 7, and
Lisa, age 3, who are the delight of
their grandpa's heart.
Jerry is a slim 5 ft. 10 in. with
dark hair and expressive eyes.
He generally shows a rather
pleasant, outgoing, extravert
type of personality and has a
warm smile when actually he has
an introvert nature but likes
people so that he makes every
effort to be of help.
His favorite colors are brown
and a rich blue and he enjoys
reading, gardening, and "making
new friends" to quote him.
He and Frances usually
vacation in Florida so that they
can see and enjoy the grand-children.
A great tragedy in the
Jerry Sanetti
life ot the Sanetti family was the
loss of a grandson, in 1965.
Jerry does not have the best of
health and has managed to work
at a hectic pace in spite of any
difficulty.
He is a member of American
Legion Post M334, V.F.W. Howard
Lathrop Post #2307, the Lynbrook
Lion's Club, the u.r-.O.E. # 1515"
Lynbrook Elks, the New York
State Assessor's Association and
the Building Inspector's
Association of Nassau County
called BIANCO.
Jerry stated that his marriage
to his wonderful wife, Frances
was the most important highlight
of his entire life.
Serving his own community is
of prime importance to him and
he has proven this fact by his
diligent work as a prime member
of the annual Lynbrook Week
Committee.
Jerry also recalls the loss of
many good friends in World War
II and meeting a fellow Lyn-brookite,
Ozzie Lowenburg of
Woodlawn Ave. Lynbrook in
Burma. It is quite true that it is a
small world after all.
Jerry Sanetti is the sort of
person who makes a project or
task he is engaged upon "tick."
Some people are "dOers" and
others are spectators in life
letting "Joe do it." Jerry gets
involved in more things t h ^ the
average person could even begin
to handle. He has an un-forgettable
personality. Lyn-brook,
U.S.A. means a great deal
to him.
East Rockaway Fire Chief Robert J. Reynolds presents a twenty-five
year pin to Mrs. Charles Fr^thingham, posthumously for her husband,
Ex-Captain Charles Frothirigham, of the Grant St. Firehouse, who
passed away this past year.
