The disturbing needs of
children in the world's
developing countries is the set-ting
for the dramatic
documentary film "Link of
Love," showing Sunday, Oc-tober
21, 7:00 P.M. at The Old
Church of Lynbrook.
Produced by World Vision
International, the film depicts the
way of life for the more than one
billion children who live without
the advantages of food, medical
care, home life and education
taken for granted in the Western
world.
Filmed in Asia, "Link of Love"
explains the relationship between
lonely, unloved children and
sponsors who adopt them in their
hearts. Cameras go behind the
scenes to scenes to show what life
is really like for the little ones
who are the innocent victims of
war, poverty, disaster. The
picture isn't always a pleasant
one, but it is one that is honestly
presented and the offers the
viewer a "you are there" sense of
reality.
But "Link of Love" doesn't stop
with the problem. The film shows
the results of love in action as
concerned people establish a link
of love with children in need of
help.
For more than two decades
now, World Vision International,
a Christian humanitarian
agency, has been a channel
through which thousands of
concerned Christians in America,
Canada, Australia, New Zealand
and South Africa have become
links of love through the spon-sorship
of children overseas.
Francis Purcell, Presiding Supervisor, Town of Hempstead, discusses
plans with Maxine Rosenberg, President of the L.L Chapter of the
Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation for their Old-fashioned Bazaar at
the Freeport Armory from October 26th through the 28th.
It promises to be one of the most exciting Fall events on the Long
Island Calendar, t h e merchandise covers an almost inconceivable
range ... from foodstuffs to all types of apparel... A Flea Market on a
grand scale ... a Farmer's Market, a Farmer's Bar for dining; games
of chance for fun and prizes.
All proceeds go directly into the research of this most common
cause of incurable blindness in the U.S.
