    • In the early part of the 1900s, Manhasset Bay was the main source of livelihood to fishermen, oystermen and clam diggers such as Grandpa Cocks. Its later popularity as a yachting center began to impact these traditional occupations.

    • A & R Marshall Marine Service, located at 403 Main Street in Port Washington from 1928 through 1964. This building, which had earlier been Bayview Hotel, burned down in 1947. In 1989 the site became part of Inspiration Wharf.
