^ Halloween Fall Festival Scheduled
With the hot summer months
behind us, many residents are
looking forward to cooler
temperatures and the crisp fall
weather that lies ahead. Along
with pumpkins, the colorful
leaves and goblins in the air, the
Bethpage Chamber of
Commerce is sponsoring a
Fabulous FALL HALLOWEEN
Festival, which will give you yet
another reason to look forward
to autumn in Bethpage.
On October 30, along
Broadway in Bethpage the
Chamber of Commerce will be
hosting their Second Annual
Street Fair except this year they
have added a Halloween twist!
The event begins at 1 lam and
will feature many local business
owners who are members of the
Chamber as well as a huge
assortment of craft and
merchandise vendors for your
enjoyment. If shopping is your
pleasure, then make sure you
don 7 miss this event and if your
looking for some yummy treats to
eat well look no farther. Along
with many merchandise and
information vendors festivalgoers
will be treated to a wide variety
of food and goodies for every
taste bud.
Best of all the Chamber of
Commerce is hosting some pretty
fun activities for the young and
young at heart. They will be
featuring their second Annual
BETHPAGE BAKE- OFF. First,
second and third Prizes will be
given out in three categories and

feature treats made by our
younger chefs underage 12. The
second category is called
Bethpage ' s Big Time Bakers and
will feature the culinary delights
of bakers 13 and older. The
categories are BREAD, CAKES
and PIES, and COOKIES!
Entries must be brought to the
Chamber of Commerce booth on
Fair day by 1 lam. We will have
expert judges ( well they think
they are experts, anyway) and
monetary prizes as well as
ribbons will be given out.
To get all the little ghouls and
goblins involved in this special
Bethpage day, the Chamber is
featuring a HALLOWEEN
PARADE and COSTUME
CONTEST! At 2: 00pm all our
costume- clad friends will be
invited to parade their
Halloween best down the streets
of Broadway and past our
judges. Prizes will be given out
in three categories, under 5, 6- 12
and 13 or older. Once again
monetary prizes will be awarded
along with ribbons for the lucky
winners. And... if all that fun isn V
enough the Chamber is also
sponsoring their MOST
ORIGINAL JACK- o- LANTERN
Contest! There will only be one
lucky winner of this prize and the
Chamber has decided to do
something a little different this
year with having a theme
selected for your pumpkin
creation. The theme is
BETHPAGE PRIDE, so dress
and design your pumpkin in it's
Bethpage best and bring it to the
Chamber of Commerce booth by
1 lam on Festival day! Use your
imagination!
The Bethpage Chamber of
Commerce is hosting this event
as a way to once again acquaint

September 11 continues to bring
many emotions for many. For the
Grey Family, as they remember the
lives that were lost, they also
remember, the hope they were given
with one precious little life. Their
daughter, Taylor Capri, was born that
morning of September 11 and this
year she celebrated her 4th birthday
" princess- style." Taylor took her first
train ride to Manhattan where she
visited the World of Disney to meet
Cincerella and became part of her
' Royal Court.' From there, a
celebration was waiting in Bethpage
at Taylor's Great- Grandma Marion's
home. Marion Mendola is a long- time
resident of Bethpage and this year,
on September 11, her home was
filled with laughter, smiles, and love
as Taylor was surrounded by her
family and friends. We continue to
pray for peace and hope throughout
our country and throughout our
world.

If You've Got A Green Thumb
The Chamber's Got A Planter
With Your Name On It!
The Bethpage Chamber of Commerce is asking local businesses,
organizations and families to participate in their adopt a planter
program. Many other communities all across Long Island have started
programs like this as a way to get business owners, organizations and
local families involved in their Chamber and also as a way to insure
that their town's appearance is maintained. What the Bethpage
Chamber of Commerce is proposing is that individual businesses,
organizations and or families are entitled to adopt a specific planter
along Broadway. When you have made the commitment to that planter
your name will appear on it as the GREEN THUMB Sponsor. The
Chamber will then allow you to select whatever plants you wish from
our list of available plants ( at no cost to the sponsor) and it is then the
sponsor's obligation to maintain their planter. By maintaining the
Chamber means obviously watering the planter as well as the
trimming and clean up of the boxes. This program will start in March
of 2006 and in August of 2006 the Bethpage Chamber of Commerce
will present one lucky sponsor with the Bethpage Chamber of
Commerce GREEN THUMB Award as well as a $ 200prize!
Although it seems very early on or perhaps late in the season to be
starting this program, the Bethpage Chamber of Commerce wants to
make sure that every planter has a sponsor so that everyone in
Bethpage will be treated to a spring and summer blooming with color
next yea. rPleasefill out the application below to sign up to adopt your
planter today. The effort that you put into your planter is effort that
you put into your town. So come on and. give your GREEN THUMB a
workout!!

Do you have a suggestion or a comment you need to get off your chest explaining
just what needs to he done to correct a situation? Do you have a pet peeve that is
just driving you crazy and you just have to share? Well, here is your chance. Every
month in the Tribune we will be featuring a new column called S/ MON S/ WS.
This column will be a very informal setting for readers to air their " do this**
suggestions or " stop that" comments. Submissions to this column can include
pictures and should be signed. If your comments are general in nature your name
can be omitted. This column is quite different from " Your 37 Cents" in that we are
asking for brief comments about things you are bothered by or would like to see
happen. So now is the time to get all those thoughts off your chest... and
why... because S/ MON SAYS!
Now, since this is a new column, we obviously didn 7 receive any comments yet so
to start things off... here are a few entries of my own.
SfMON SAYS..../ wish people would not fling cigarette
butts out of their car windows when they are driving. It is such a nasty habit.
SfMON SAYS.. •/ wish more businesses would take a hint
from the Bethpage Barber Shop in displaying their American flags.
S/ MON SAYS • • • Why is it taking so much longer for the
price of gasoline to go down when it only took one night for it to skyrocket? Could
it be that the oil company's are taking us all for a ride?
SfMON SAYS •/ hope people write in to this silly column.
Send your comments to the Tribune, A TTN: Simon Says, 329 Broadway,
Bethpage, New York 11714. And special thanks are send to a bunch very special
SIMONS who were the inspiration for this column!
