The new moving picture theatre on Grand avenue was opened last Friday night with a good display of pictures. The theatre Is managed by Mr. Chas. Hodge, who endeavors to present only good, clean photoplays. The building is arranged so that it can be used as a hall and for other purposes. The slore adjoining is occupied as a ton¬ sorial parlor.
Several hundred residents of Bald¬ win attended the community Christ¬ mas celebration on Christmas Eve. A Christmas tree was erected on a va¬ cant lot on Grand avenue and was well decorated and lighted with elec¬ tric lights. Christmas carols and ae- lectlons were rendered by old and young singers, under Mme. Bettinetti, Santa Claus appeared about 7 o'clock ayl distributed (wilh the assistance or others) about 550 stockings con¬ taining candy, popcorn, etc, to the children. During Christmas day bas¬ kets and other things were sent to cheer numerous homes in the com¬ munity.
Mrs, Charles Mllier of Harrison avenue is laid up with a badly sprain¬ ed foot and ankle, Mrs. Mllier fell down stairs last week and wrenched her foot so that the ligaments were, torn from the bone.

On account of the storm Sunday morning there was no service In the M, E. church and the choir sang all of their Christmas music at the evening service, which was some of the best rendered music ever enjoyed by the congregation under the direction of Choirmaster Charles H. Thomas.
About ninety attended the M. E. Sunday school Sunday afternoon in spite of the storm.

William Schultz of Baldwin while out riding last Sunday in his new GO-horsepower Thomas racing car, between Hicksville and Westbury, met with what might have turned out to be a fatal accident.
Not having any chains on the car skidded and turned over, pinning Mr, Schultz underneath. Mr. Burkhart who was with him escaped, and secur¬ ed help from nearby residents, re¬ leased Mr. ^hultz and removed him to Mineola hospital. He was uncon¬ scious for two or three hours but no bones were broken.
He is recovering and will be re¬ moved to the home of Miss H«inrlch, his flancee, some time this week.
