The people of Baldwin are very busy preparing for the community celebration of Independence Day. Ar- rangement« have been about complet¬ ed. The celebration le to be held un¬ der the auspices of the Community League ot Baldwin, which is an or¬ ganization devoted to the civic and general betterment of the community.
The program arranged for the cele¬ bration is as follows:
There will be a parade In the morn¬ ing which will commence at 9 a. m,, to he composed of six divisions, in¬ cluding representation of every or¬ ganized body In the community.
The fire department and the Mott Post, G. A. R., will comprise the flret; the second will be made up of the various Men's Clubs; the third will comprise the Women's Clubs; the fourth will be made up of the chil¬ dren, including the Boy Scouts and the Girl Pioneers; the fifth will be a carnival section, and tlie automo¬ bile division will constitute the sixth.
The line of march will be from the railroad station south on Grand ave¬ nue to Churcii street, east on Church street to Central avenue, north on Central avenue to Thomas avenue, west on Thoiuas avenue to Harrison avenue, north on Harrison avenue to Clinton place, east on Clinton place to the celebration grounds at the cor¬ ner of Central avenue aud Clinton place.
At I I a. m. the patriotic exercises wlil commence. They will begin with an invocation by Rev. Martin I. Lep¬ ley. followed by the raising of the flag during which the assemblage will«ing "The Star Spangled Banner." After the raising ot the flag, the "Declara¬ tion of Independence" will be read by Rev. J. A. McGoldrick, after which the assemblage will sing "America," There will be addresses given by one of lhe veterans of the Moti Post, G. .\. R,, Congressman Krederick C. Hicks and Supervisor Hiram R, Smith. The patriotic exercises will conclude with a benediction by Rev. J. A. Tut¬ hill.
In the afternoon there will be var¬ ious sporting events commencing at 1.45, including running races, bicycle races and a contest between the two hose companies of the flre depart¬ ment. The sporting events in the afternoon will be of great interest as some of the best talent in the country will participate, as well as local tal¬ ent. Valuable prizes are to be award-
