Tho boar.l of education of ea.li town shall elect one of Its members chairman who ahall servo until the next annual meeling of the boar.l, and shall also app.iliit a : clerk of the b.iard and a town s. hool treaaurer to serve during the pleasure of such board. Any person w-ho Is iiuallfied to vote at a school meeting In the town may be appointed aa clerk or treasurer. A member of the board or a teacner em¬ ployed In a public school of the lown shall not hold the offlc© of clerk or treasurer. The board shall determine the duties an.l fix the compensation of such clerk and treaaurer.
I 834. Bond of treasurer. Th..- treasurer, within ten daya after the receipt of no¬ tice In writing of his appointment, duly served upon him, and tiefore entering upon the duties of his offlce, ahall exe. ute nnd deliver to the board ot' education a bond. In a sum to be prescribed by the board and with sureties to be api>roved by It, conditioned for the faithful dis- ctiarge of the duties of his offlce.
J 335. Vacancies In achool offlt-es. 1. A school offlce becomes vacant by .'enl'h. reaignHtlon, refusal to serve, Incapacity, removal from the town or from offl.-e.

A member of a board of edtu-allon who publicly declarea that he will n..t ac¬ cept or serve In the offlce of member of tlia board of education, or refuses or ne¬ glects to attend three successive meetings of the board of which ho Is duly notitled. without rendering a good and valid rea¬ son therefor to the board of education, vacates his offlce b.v refusal to serve.
3. A member of a board of education vacates his oHlco by the acceptance of either the offlce of district stiperintendeiit of schools or of .'^pervlsor.

1. Act as clerk at all meetings of tin bonrd and record the proceedings of such meetings, and the ordens and resoluelons adopted thereat. In proper books.
2. Draw and sign warrants upon tha treasurer for all moneys to be dlsburs»d hy the town for achool purposes and pre¬ sent them to the chairman to l-* counter¬ signed by thnt officer. Each warrant shall specify the object for which It Is drawn, the fujid from which It la payable nnd the name of the individual or corporation to whom the amount thereof Is payable.

J 341. Schools to be free to children of town. Each school maintained in a Kiwn under the auperv-islon and control of a town board of education, and each .le- partment of auch school and each course of study maintained therein, shall be free to tho children of achool age residing In such town.
I 342. Tranafer of pupils. Where pupils of achool age residing in a town may be more conveniently Instructed In the school ; or achoola of an adjoining town, or of a union free achool district or city, the board of education of such town may pro¬ vide for the transfer of such pupils lo tbe achool or schools in such adjoinlni; ; town or an adjoining union free scliool district or city In or out of the town. The board of education making such transfer shall aend notice thereof to the board of education of the town, union free school district or city to which It la proposed to transfer auch pupils, and provisions shall thereupon be made by the board of e.lu- catlon of the town, union free school dis¬ trict or city wherein such pupils are to be Instructed, for the accommodation of such pupils, upon the approval of the commis¬ sioner of education. The commissioner of edui-atlon ahall not approve the tniisfer of such pupils, when such action shall re¬ quire tbe lown, union free school distrli-t or city re.-eiving such pupils to provide additional teachers or other school accuii- modatloiis. without the consent of tl .- boar.l of education of such low-n. district or city. Funds hereafter apportioned by the state under the provisions of this chapter to school districts under the su¬ pervision and control of a town board nf education shall be apportioned on the basis provided In this chapier. but the funds so apportioned to the several school
