CONSTRCTION WORK ON BALDWIN'S NEW $40,000 SCHOOL HOUSE STARTED
To Have Large Auditorium—Provided With All Modern
Facilities
WILL COHTAm EIOHT FORTY- PUPIL CLASS ROOMS AHD MOD¬ ERN HEATIHO PLAHT—TO BE COMPLETED IH THE PALL.
Because of the phenomenal roai estate movement and numerous struc¬ tural Improvements within Its area, the Baldwin Harbor or southern sec¬ tion of Baldwin is growing in favor aa an ail-year residential centre. Overlooking the point whereon "The Lights" cluh house is situated, Bald¬ win Harbor Is becoming for all prac¬ tical purposes a reeldentiai ^djunct of Freeport.
Close to one hundred new homes have been built at Baldwin Harbor and they are sold and occupied, and all within three years, thus indicat¬ ing the strong demand for shore front property in southern Nassau county. The south shore Is rapidly surpassing the north shore in the race for all- year population. Baldwin Harbor is the flrst waterfront property In Nas¬ sau county east of the city line on the Montauk division of the railroad.
The most significant evidence of growth In Baldwin Harbor Is the ap¬ propriation of $40,000 for a new and modern public school building, work npon the construction of which hae already begun. The superstructure will soon be completed. Situated on Orand Central avenue, the new build¬ ing Is 60 by Sl feet in size and occu¬ pies a plot 2.")0 by ;iOO feet. Tooker St Marsh of New York City are the architects. The oid .school in Bald¬ win Is being built primarily to meet the growing demand for school ac¬ commodations near the shore.
With an exterior of tapestry brick and Indiana limestone trimmings, the new building ie of re-enforced con¬ crete construction, two stories and basement in height. The basement of the new school Is almost entirely ahove ground, thereby affording am¬ ple daylight throughout.
The plans s^ow three entrances to the school, the main entrance and separate entrances for boys and girls. Sanitary drinking fountains are on each floor.
Moet of the basement is given over to an assembly room seating ;{.")0 per¬ sons, a stage and a moving picture booth. The minor part of tho floor Is utilized for boiler room, storage space, janitor's room and toilet ar¬ rangements.
Four -lO-pupil classrooms, with in¬ dividual wardrobes, are on tlie first floor, together with the principal's
office; while on the second floor are four more 40-pupiI classrooms with individual wardrobes, a conference room for teachers, a library and stor¬ age room for school supplies. Noth¬ ing has been spared in providing modern educational facilities.
The building wili be heated by a combination of the direct and indirect systems; the direct is from radiators beneath the windows, and the indi¬ rect is freshly warmed air forced by niean« of motor-driven fans into each room. Acoustic and ventiiatiuK facil¬ ities are perfect.
Witii this huiidlnn eonipleted and dedicated ne.xt year. Baldwin Harbor will 1)0 the if.iiy sliore front com¬ munity, except Long Heach, in South¬ ern .N'asHaw county witli moriern imli¬ lie school facilities.
When the south side waterway Is completed it will pass .so close lo «liore front of Baldwin Harbor as to be a part of it. Several miles of ciiannels and waterways have been cnuipleted and they open directly into lietnpstead Bay.
Curtail Loner Island R. R. Passes.
The Lons Island Railroad issued recently to its employees a notice re¬ minding thein that tliey received free transportation over tlie company's line on tlie distinct understanding tbat tbey must not occupy a. seat when there were payinp; passengers standing. Conseiiuontly they are ad¬ vised to permit the ordinary passen¬ gers to get on the train first, and Kive them a chance to find a seat be¬ fore they themselves get aboard.

supplying the public with its favorite beverage in its purest and most wholesome

The public's appreciation is substantially shown by its patronage of the Ruppert Brewery.

WANT NEW_ TROLLEY LINE.
Property owners between Baldwin Harbor and Hempstead are planning an organized effort to have the Hemp¬ stead and Baldwin Traction Company build the trolley road between the two communities for which it holds a franchise and across Hempstead Bay to .N'aesau-by-the-Sea on the ea.st end of Long Beach.
The completion of the road would link thp southern half of Nassau county to the ocean beach. It was planned to build this projected trol¬ ley system four years ago. but finan¬ cial conditions at the time prevented the improveinent.
