The .social events of the aeason cul¬ minated in the complimentary oyster supper tendered by the members of the Presbyterian church of Mas.sape¬ qua last Saturday evening, taking the form of a Lincoln's birthday party. The notices sent out on Feb. 7 and Feb. 9th by Messrs. Bartel and Ran¬ kin, resulted in calling together a large attendance of the 'oest people In the locality to welcome and greet Rev. E. A. Chester of the Union Theologi¬ cal Seminary, who is tonductlng the church aervlces on Sundav during the present month.
Doctor Chester assured the people that he would endeavor to call upon each and every family In the neigh¬ borhood during the month. All agreed that there was no better means of uniting and stimulating the efforts of the people in eoclal and church work than a gathering of this kind.

Mr. H. L. Jaschke ana family of Bellmore wish to acknowledge with deepest gratitude the sincere expres¬ sions of sympathy and kindness of the people of Bellmore and surrounding towns In the loss of a dear wife and loving mother. Mrs. Jaachke was In her forty-sixth year, and her demise is mourned by all who had the pleas¬ ure of knowing her kindly disposition and sacrificing spirit. She is survived by her husband, two sons, a daugh¬ ter and her aged mother.
The Bellmore Yacht Club gave a niid-wlnter ball in the Firemen's Hall last Saturday night. Nearly two hun¬ dred and flfty residents and friends attended the event, and the affair wa.s a grand success. The ball was a fltting testimonial to the popularity and esteem of the commodore and his offlcers. Handsome trophies were pre¬ sented to the successful contestants In the fancy dancing contest. The net proceeds of the ball totaled $150. The music was furnished by Hfrsh's or¬ chestra of Lindenhurst. Commodore Place wishes to extend hia thanks to tho.se who assisted in making the af¬ fair such a decided success.
