KEEP THE TOWN CLEAN.
A clean town attracts attention •whenever and wherever it is seen. A dirty one catches the public eye in even less time.
AVhen the streets and alleys and yards and vacant lots In a town are clean and sanitary it bespeaks a like condition on the part of the residents with regard to their personal habits.
The Lord love.« a elean man or woman, and the devil worships a dirty one. Which do you prefer?
If each person in ttiis town wouid use just a little more energy and thoiightfulness we could make ttils one of the cleanest spots in the coun¬ try and our reputation would grow apace.
Not only would we benefit thuely, but the health of the community would be vastly improved, and the phy.sical capacity of the people would be greatly increased.
A clean man works with pleasure and with a definite object in view. Generally he gets there.
The dirty one labors from necessity only, has no ambition, and is the black eye that kills the town in the eyes of other people.
Keep the town clean.

SWEEP OUT THE FELTH.
When a house floor is covered with filth all decent and self-respecting people get a broom and commence to sweep,
Mexico is the house floor today and the United States is the raan with the broom. It Is time lo sweep.
For years anarchy has been prevail¬ ing in that country, and for five years each day has seen the prevailing con¬ ditions just a little worse than the day before. It hae been a retrograde movement since the day President Diaz fled to France.
Today we are witnessing the as¬ sembling of a new army of nearly a hundred thousand men, called to the colors because the President deems it wise to sweep the dirty Mexican floor.
The movement of tlie troops to the Mexican border may be but the pre¬ lude to a general war with Mexico. If such It is to be, then the American army should not be withdrawn until every vestige of filth has been swept from the lepublic to our south and a land once fair shall have been made over into ,i plaee of habitation for ra¬ tional liuman beings.
l,t is not a pleasant task to under¬ take, but it seems to lie a burden placed upon the sluui Iders of the Amerlcun people. It will be accom- pliehed without fuss or feather or bluster or blow—accomplished as the people perform their routine duties of life, for such is the American spirit.
The Stars and Stripes should be re¬ spected wherever and whenever they are unfurled. Let us see that it ia so.
Sweep put the fllth.
It is the height of mendacity and audacity for the Democrats now to charge and asseverate that Mr. Wil¬ son inherited the vexatious Mexican problem from the Taft administra¬ tion!—Cohoes Republican.
