The new Neigbborhood Hoase re¬ cently built onder the ansploes of the BCatlnecock Neighborhood Association of Loctist Valley, was the scene of an Ihterestlng meeting Wednesday after¬ noon. About flfty men and wc/jen representatives ot the various civic, philanthropic and health organizations in Nassau County were present
The trained workers, of ' whom there are now abont fifteen in tbe county, were also pi^sent.
This group Ib called the "Central Conference" and was organized by Miss Mary Malcolm, of the Nassau County Association, in March, 1914. The Conference holds monthly meet¬ ings which have previously been held in the oflices of the Nassau County Association.
Mt. Elastman gave a stirring talk on Rural Recreation, a problem which confronts every village in Nassau County, and should be given serious consideration by every thoughtful citizen. There are already several neighborhood houses and some schools opened as social centers throughout the county. It is hoped, however, the time will soon come when it will not be "several villages" but that every village in the county will pos- HesB either a school center or a neigh¬ borhood house.
Mrs. Pranks, Truant Officer and rep¬ resentatives of the Mothers' Club, Fortnightly Club and Rockville Cen- trf Club were present.
THE PfPE HOSPITAL AUoccAber one ot the most interea^- ine and unique of tbe Industrie* wblch we have bad tlie pleasure of TlalUn^ and Ins^peoUng is the "pipe hospital" 'located et, 20 Beeiiman street.
