Although widely circulated rumors hinted of a change In the meeting place of the Board of Trustees of East Rockaway in the event of the election of the People's Party candi dates, the Village Fathers at their or ganlzatlon meeting last night designat ed Firemen's Hall as the village offict for th* coming year. There was n( mention made of the Civic Associa lion's house on Atlantic avenue, vriijef* It was suggested the future "City HaH' would be.
Fully twenty-flve taxpayers and res¬ idents wero present at the meeting. They applauded the newly elected Trustees as they took the oath of of flee, and broke into intermittent chcer.-^ as the several appointments were made.
Dr. William A. Strong, the re-elected village executive; Albert J. Edwards. trustee; Harry L. Hobbs, treasurei and George O. Field, collector began their duties as unpaid ofliciais of th( seaside municipality with a vim. Tlu board appointed Seymour F. FrasicI, as village clerk to take the place ol Walter White, who has held the ollice for the past several years; Herman Schmidt, a well knowrf attorney ol Manhattan and East Rockaway as vil lage counsel, and George Abrams was reappointed as road commissioner.
The entire board with the exception of trustee William Penn Weeks Haff Jr., was present. It was the iinanini ous choice of the members that Hu meetings be held on the lirst aud third Wednesdays of each month.
Dr. Strong in taking olhce said fnai "many bitter tilings" had been said during the past campaign, wliich he hoped were forgotten. He impressed upon his auditors that he was no long¬ er the People's Party Candidate but tht village president.
"The board is prepared to redteni the pledges of Us platform," said tht village executive, "the assessment lol; win be revised at once and it will be bur endeavor to straighten out thf tax entanglements which have so long annoyed the property owners of the village."
Dr. Strong expressed the hope that the people would take advantage ot their rights to an audience before the Board of Trustees upon any and all occasions, and urged that his col¬ leagues work harmoniously for the good of the village.
Lynbrook Trustees Organize.
The first meeting of the Lynbrook Board of Trustees since the election was held last night In the village of¬ fice on Atlantic avenue. The follow¬ ing ofTIclals were sworn In: Dr. Geo. F. Odair, president; George Wright, Mulford Doxsey and Charles Lott, trus¬ tees, O. Wallace Smith, treasurer and Charles Schweitzer, collector.
After organizing, the board went In¬ to session and appointed W. Frank Fovler as counsel; Williani Karn as street commissioner; Joseph McPeak as engineer and Edward Donlon and Oliver Klles as policemen. Tho Lyu¬ brook National Bank was named as a depository for the vilalge funds.
Tbe naming of the official paper was laid over for future consideration.
Nonogenarlan as Administrator John A. Smith,, of Freeport, aged 95 years, has asked Surrogate John J. Graham, to appoint him administrator for the estate of his wife Su.san, who died In 1911. Mrs. Smith left a will, >'^ but It was lost and as some realty matters are Involved, "Uncle John" -wants to clear them up. His applica¬ tion will. It Is expected, bo granted.
