Governor Whitman Calls For 1,040 Men From Nassau Co
FREEPORT UNITS FORM BAHAUON
The Couniy of .Nassau wiil provide lu40 soldiers for the .National .\rmy from the draft drawn at Washin^iton last week according to the of¬ ficial annotincemenl made by Governor Whitman on Wednesday morning of this week. The quota for Suffolk County is 871 men. The total for the Couniy of .Nassau is considerably higher than was estimated in The Nas¬ sau Post last week. The paper predicted an allotment of about 814.
As indicated in the columns last week there are four exemption dis- iricl.-s in the county, and the quota for each is as follows: Disirict On«% 226; District Two, 211; District Three. 27H, and District Four, 284.
The allotment to the third K.xeniption Dislrici of 279 men is .somewhat larger than was expected. Inder the rules of the draft twit-e the num¬ ber of men allotted, 558 ineti, will be called for exemption. There are 2718 men on the registry list of this district and a complete list of thp first six hundred and twenty in the oider In which they will be called is printed in the columns of the paper this week. L'p to Thursday morning the inerabers of the local Kxeniption Board had nol received the offlclal master sheets from Washington, nor had they received official notice of the quota from the GovcMnor. Wc have endeavored to make the lists a.s reliable as possible.

Herewith is printed a compilation of the numbers of men on the Registry Lists of the Various Villages, the number of men subject to call of the first 300, the second 300 and the total number of men subject to call out of the first 600. The percentage is in each case indicated.
The greater proportion of men are taken from Smith¬ ville South, Wantagh and Long Beach.
The compilation applies to the draft in the Third Ex¬ emption District only.
