The regular meeting of the Massa¬ pequa Board of Trade waa held on Friday evening. May 18th, for the dis- cuBsion of the lighting district. All resident taxpayers were Invited to be present, and a goexUy number attend¬ ed. The petition is well signed up and will soon be ready to present to the Town Board. Me-esrs. Pollock, Danielson and Hess were ele;cted to membership iu the Board.

Others who do not "oin can help by sending In clean pieces of material for snipping to fill comfort pillows, and material for making the same, such as chambray, cretonne, etc.
The Auxiliary meets In the Property OflJce on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2 to 4.30.
Several cases of patriotic pictures have been donated by Dr. A. T. Haight to be sold for the beneflt of the Red Cross.

Flag Raising
An excellent idea, conceived in the mind of Mr. Frank Wolfe and execut¬ ed by him, was consummated on Sat¬ urday afternoon before a large gath¬ ering on grounds near the railroad station, when a community flag rais¬ ing took place. The flag and pole cost about fifty dollars. .Mr. Wolfe ex¬ presses his pleasure at the willing¬ ness with which the contributions were made, and their number. The village congratulates .Mr. Wolfe at .something well worth while well done and is grateful for the means now at band of showing its patriotism.
The exercises on the green were participated in l)y the Rev. William H. Liiilebrandt, recior of the Church of the Redeemer; .Mr. M. K. Powell, principal of the local public schools; the -Merrick Unit under command of Col. Christoffel; Ha-rold Bunker and IL C. Schwab; about seventy of the school children with their teachers, and the Boy Scouts.
The children sang "America." and .Mr. Littlebrandt told of the inception of tbe movement which the occasion celebrated, and ihen offered prayer.
