Lions Members Launch
Halloween Candy Sale
" Trick - or - Treat" door
bell ringing will begin this year
when members of the Farming -
dale Lions Club launch their
door - to - door sale of Lions
Halloween candy during this
week. Lions President David
Weinblatt announced that the sale
is a convenience to housewives
and a means of supporing Lions
community service projects.
Proceeds from the candy sale
have been designated for the
benefit of local Farmingdale
charities.
The plastic bags of candy containing
160 individually wrapped
pieces will sell for $ 1.00.

Peanuts, Senior Hawks Win;
Midgets, Pee Wees, Jay Vees Lose
Two Farmingdale Hawk Teams
won and three others lost in
football action this past weekend.
The Peanuts were victorious
over Floral Park 12- 0 on first
half scores by Geiersbach and
Clinton and were on the losers
one yard line when the game
ended. Geiersbach tallied on a
16 yard off- tackle slant and Clinton
on a two yard sneak play.
The Seniors won over Plain-view
14- 8 on scores by Podlewski
on a three yard sneak and a
Pasley to Seele pass.
K of C Confers First Degree
The Farmingdale Council,
Knights of Columbus, held an
exemplification of the First Degree
at the Council Home, last
Tuesday.
Honors were conferred on
David Giorano, Donald Ricciardi,
William Carney, Harold Fort-muller,
John Leary, George
Hathaway and John Ianno.
Dalers Honored For
Volunteer Work
Three Farmingdale residents
were honored for having served
15 years or more in volunteer
work for the Nassau County Easter
Seal Banking committee. They
are: Mrs. George E. Fueschsel,
Mrs. Charles Tilgner Jr., and
Mrs. Arthur White.
Carl O. Darling
Funeral services will be held
on Friday at 10 a. m. from the
Arthur F. White Funeral Home,
Farmingdale for Carl O. Darling
of 230 Yoakum Avenue.
Darling 38, was a custodian
at Mill Lane Junior High School.
He is survived by his wife,
Catherine and by a son, Carl J.
and a daughter, Sysan M. He
is also survived by his sisters
Elsie Vermilya and Evelyn Miller
and his brothers, William,
Clyde and Clifton.
The ceremony was conducted
by a group of past grand knights
headed by Alfred Bereche.
Prospective members are welcome
to visit the council home on
any Tuesday from 8: 00 P. M.
Membership is open to all practical
Catholic men over the age
of 18.
The Jay Vees lost a 28- 7 tilt
to the well- oiled Massapequa
Mustangs with the winners scoring
on first half long passes that
played havoc with the Hawk
safeties. The Jay Vees scored in
the final period on an off- tackle
slant by Chric Millo.
The Midgets dropped a 7- 0
heartbreaker on the final play of
the game to Inwood. The winners
used a screen play to pull it out.
The Pee Wees lost to a fine
Syosset Spartan eleven 37 - 0.
Magro, Mulligan, Hamel and Baumann
played well defensively.
The Pee Wee cheer leaders lend-ed
fine moral support in the
losing effort.
Mrs. Josephine Jones of 111 Hillside Road, purchases the first
packet of Trick or Treat candies from Farmingdale Lion Frank
Hynes. The scene will be reinacted hundreds of times during the
next week as Lions Club members call on residents of the community
selling their trick- or treat Halloween candy to raise funds
to support local charities.
