High School Names Four
As Seniors Of The Month
John Scardina, Caren Levine,
Ellen Lazarus and Ronald Coffey
were named Seniors of the month
at Farmingdale High School.
They were guests of the Farmingdale
Rotary Club, and will
serve as color guards at school
Scardina is President of the
Senior Class, and is a member
of the National Honor Society.
He plays in the band and orchestra,
and is leader of the
Pep Band. He is also representative
on the Student Council,
and a member of the Key »
Club. He plans to major in
science in college and is a semi-finalist
in the National Merit
Caren Levine has lived in
Farmingdale the last ten years.
She is treasurer of the Senior
Class, and a member of the
National Honor Society. She is
also a representative on the
Student Council, and a member
Women's Club Plans
The Women's Club of Farmingdale
will hold " Husbands
Nite" on Friday November 3
at Marcpiere Restaurant.
Chairman Mrs. ElmoNostrand
and her Committee, Mrs. Charles
Clementi, and Mrs. John Mon-aghan
have planned a program
entitled " A Cruise to Ndwhere"
Students In Parade
Can a witch be cute? A Frankenstein
lovable? A pirate appealing?
Yes, indeed, if they are the
268 costumed kindergarten children
of the Woodward Parkway
School enjoying the annual Halloween
Parade. To the lively
sounds of the school band with
twirlers leading the way, each
kindergarten teacher, cleverly
costumed, led her imaginatively
dressed class in a parade around
the building so that all 1600 grade
one to six children could enjoy
the fun and spirit of the occasion.
Northside Becomes Eight
School As Saturday Center
The Northside School will become
the Eighth Farmingdale
Council Saturday Recreation
Center this Saturday, November
A varied program of gymnasium
activities, sports, stunts
and tumbling will be supervised
by Melvin Stern and John Monaco,
teachers at the school.
In addition to the gymnasium
activities, arts and crafts and
quiet games will be provided.
Registration will take place at
the first session on Saturday,
and doors will open at 9: 30 A. M.
Participants must wear sneakers.
Plans for a class reunion of
the 1958 graduating class of the
Farmingdale Senior High School
will be discussed at a meeting
at Weldon L. Howitton Thursday,
All classmates who wish to
participate are asked to attend

The East Farmingdale Volunteer
Fire Co., Inc. sponsored the
Fire Prevention Week Fssay
Awards Contest held at the Mill
Lane Junior High School as well
as tliat held at the Fast Memorial
Elementary School as it has done
annually instead of the fire department
creditqd in an article
which appealed in the October
26th issue of the Farmingdale
Observer. We are sorry for the
of the theatre club. Next year,
she plans to attend the State
University at Albany or at Bing-hampton,
in a liberal arts curriculum.
Ellen Lazarus has lived in
Farmingdale eleven years. She
is secretary of the Senior Class,
and a member of the National
Honor Society. She is a member
of the Girls Leaders Club and is
a member of the ski club, and she
enjoys reading. She has applied
at Vassar College for next year,
Ronald Coffey is vice- president
of the Senior Class, and is
a member of the medical science
club. He was president of
the ninth grade Junior Honor Society,
and he is a member of the
Key club. He is a Student Council
representative, and has been
on the debating team. He plans
to attend Holy Cross University
next year to pursue a pre- medi-cal
Joseph Zureck, Mayor of
Farmingdale proclaimed the
week of November - 5- 11, 1967
as American Education Week,
and urged residents to join with
teachers and school officials in
American Education Week ceremonies.
The theme this year is " How
Good Are Your Schools?"

Jr. Post No. 516 of Farming-dale,
in keeping with the Nassau
County Council of V. F. W., urges
all people to celebrate the week
of November 5 to 11th as Veterans
Week by flying daily the
The local VFW will climax the
period on Saturday, November
11th with a ceremony at the War
Memorial on Main Street, Farmingdale
at 10: 45 a. m., followed
by a similar, ceremony at the
Veterans monument infront of the
VFW hall at 635 Main Street.
