Libraries Plan Special Events
For National Library Week
National Library Week April
16- 22, will be celebrated with
special programs and displays at
the Farmingdale Public Library.
For die kindergarten through
third grade age group a special
" Reading Aloud Hour" will be
offered on Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday at 2: 00 pm in the
South Farmingdale Branch Library.
A lecture/ demonstration will
be held on Tuesday, April 18th
at 8: 30 p. m. by ceramics expert
Lee Levy. Mrs. Levy, a
noted potter, has exhibited at die
Smidisonian Institution, National
Design Center, Worcester Art
Museum and New York University
Loeb Gallery.
Mrs. Levy will give a demonstration
on the potters wheel and
will answer questions on ceramics.
Many samples of her work
will be on display togedier with
books on this and related crafts.
The Plainedge Public Library
has prepared a series of
celebrations in observance of
National Library Week.
The festivities include
special children's programs, die
distribution of lapel buttons, book
lists and book marks for adults
and a special dividend, forgiveness
of all fines on any books
returned during the week.
Explaining die programs, Library
Director Alfred Freund
stated, " We hope to take full
advantage of this special week
to remind Plainedge residents
of me many services available
to diem from dieir local library.
Widi the recent passage of die
library building referendum and
the new building on the way
to becoming a reality, diisyear's
National Library Week takes on
special significance for Plain-edge."
The children's room will host
a film program on Wednesday,
April 19 at 4: 00 p. m. The films
to be shown are Andy and the
Lion, Children Adrift, and Elephant
Baby. In addition, special
lapel buttons marking National
Library Week will be distributed
to the first 500 children using
the children's room from Monday,
April 17 to Saturday, April
22.
Gay Cifarelli Engagement To
James Daly Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cifarelli,
42 Wall Street, Farming-dale,
announced the engagement
of their daughter, Gay Lynn
to James Joseph Daly, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Daly of 60
Crestwood Blvd., Farmingdale.
Miss Cifarelli graduated from"
Farmingdale High School, Class
of « 65. She is a sophomore at
Oneonta State University. Mr.
Daly also graduated from Farmingdale
High School in 1965 and
is a student at the State University
of Farmingdale.
No wedding date was set.
