Casimir Rakowski, of Quaker
Meeting House Hoad, Farming-dale,
associate professor of
mechanical technology at State
University's Agricultural and
Technical College at Farming-dale,
has been selected by the Administrator
of the United Nations
Development Programme topar-ticipate
as a consultant in the e s tablishment
of advanced training
institutes in India.
Scheduled to leave the United
States on January 22, Professor
Rakowski will spend three weeks
meeting with Indian government
officials to determine the necessary
educational courses and
techniques needed for the training
of highly skilled craftsmen
in the areas of tool and die
making.
The proposed institutes, which
would be located in Calcutta and
Madras, would serve as pilot
• inits for the development of educational
guidelines to be used
throughout the country by other
institutions engaged in the training
of industrial craftsmen.
Rakowski will also study proposals
to the United Nations from
the Indian government for the e s tablishment
of tool room centers
in New Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta,
and other sections of the country.
He will determine how the services
of these proposed projects
would be coordinated with a recently
approved project for the
development of training and advisory
services in tool, die, and
mould making for the plastic and
other industries of Guindy, India,
which he worked on in the summer
of 1965 as a consultant to the
International Labor Organization,
a specialized agency of the
UN family.

For Week Of Prayer
The Farmingdale Methodist
Church will be host to the other
Christian churches in Farming-dale
for the Week of Prayer and
Christian Unity. A special service
will be held in the Methodist
Church beginning at 2 p. m. every
day from Wednesday, January 18
until Wednesday, January 25„

and The Catholic Bishop's Commission
for Ecumenical Affairs.

Rev. Richard Griffith
Will Speak At Methodist Chvrch
Rev. Richard Owen Griffith,
pastor of the Methodist Church
at Westhampton Beach, Long Island
will be the preacher at the
morning services of the Methodist
Church, Farmingdale, this
Sunday. Mru Griffith is a graduate
of the Farmingdale High
School, and of the Adrian College,
Adrian, Michigan, and will
be graduated from the Drew Theological
Seminary of Drew University,
Madison, New Jersey
later this month.
Prior to being assigned to
the Westhampton Beach Church,
Mr. Griffith served in New Jersey.
He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Emyr Griffith of 18 Walnut
Avenue, Farmingdale.

The St. Kilian's Young Adult's

COMPLETES ARMY HELICOPTER COURSE
Warrant Officer Candidate
George V. Cave Jr., 20, whose
parents live at 75 Yoakum
St., Farmingdale, completed a
helicopter pilot course at the
Army Primary Helicopter
School, Ft. Wolters, Texas.
During the 16- week course,
he was trained to fly Army
helicopters and learned to use
them in tactical maneuvers.
He next will undergo advanced
flight training at the Army
Aviation School, Ft. Rucker,
Ala. Upon completion of advanced
training he may be appointed a
warrant officer.

$ 1,239,292.80 federal contract to
Liberty Aero Inc. of Farming-dale.
The contract covers production
of guided missile
launchers.
The work will be performed at
the company's plant on Motor
Avenue, Farmingdale.

District Court Judge Willis
B. Carman of Baaberry Court,
Farmingdale has been elected as
a director of the Nassau- Suffolk
Council of the National Conference
of Christians and Jews.
He has been an active member
for the past ten years.

Cultural Arts Program
Readies Open House
The Cultural Arts Program
of the Farmingdale Youth Council
will hold an open house on
Saturday, January 21, at the
Parkway Oaks School from 9: 30
a. m. to 12: 30 p. m. during regular
class sessions. An invitation
is extended to parents of children
participating in the program,
and to all parents and children
in District # 22 interested
in observing classes in session.
During the open house, there
will be registration for a two-hour
Fine Arts Workshop which
will include Sculpture, Drawing
and Painting. The workshop will
be open for children in grades
6 to 10, and will run for ten
sessions beginning January 28th.
