Baker Leaves School Post Mid- Island ORT Mets Stop Hornets Win Streak
For United Fund
Pearce H. Baker, Coordinator
of Community Relations for
School District 23 for the past
four years has been named Director
of Public Relations for the
United Fund of Long Island affective
June 15.
In his work with the Massa-pequa
schools, Baker headed the
district's community relations
and information program. He was
previously associated with the
Macy stores as Manager of
Branch Stores Public Relations
and Special Events. An alumnus
of Brown University and the Yale
Graduate School of Drama, Baker
also attended George Washington
University and New York University.
His background includes
extensive experience intheatrics
as an actor, directorand summer
stock producer. He also served
as staff announcer and news director
for a number of New
England radio stations.
Baker lives with his wife and
four children at 53 Ocean Avenue,
Amityville, and has been a Long
Island resident since 1961. He is
a Navy veteran of the Korean
War.
Civics Party Slates Annual Event
The annual Spring Dance and
Buffet Supper of the Civics Party
of Massapequa Park will be held
on Saturday, June 3 at 9 p. m.
at the Elks Club, Massapequa.
Al Zimmer is chairman of
the event.
CERTIFICATES OF MERIT were awarded recently to eight members
of the Nassau County Police Department who earned the
" Exceptional Police Duty" award. Presentation was made by
County Executive Eugene Nickerson ( r) in his Mineola office.
Among the recipients were Patrolman Curtis C. Heine of 208
Eastlake Avenue, Massapequa Park.

The Bears had too much power
for the Robins in Massapequa
Coast League play as they walloped
the birds by a 23- 8 count
with Tom Inglis on the mound.
The Braves then dumped the
Bears by a 11- 7 score with Glenn
Rossman and John Rice the offensive
stars.
Heavy hitting featured the Owls
twin wins over the Robins 8- 7
and the Mustangs 15- 9.
In other games, the Royals
edged the Braves 3- 2 with Paul
Levy on the mount and P. Wetzel
providing the offensive power.
Falcons, Hawks, Condors Win
In Ruth Coast League
Tony Calabro edged Alan Pollock
in a pitching duel, as the
Falcons beat the Eagles by a 3- 2
score in the Babe Ruth Division
of the Massapequa Coast Division.
In other games, Billy Zapf
of the Hawks shutout the Ravens
2- 0 with C. Czurda on the mound
for the losers.
The Condors gave Walter Geld-ert
a 21 run bulge as they
walloped the Jays by a 21 - 5 score.
Oioles, Cadets, Chiefs Win
