Bob Eberle Heads All American
Band Engagement " The Fantasticks' At Westbury Music Fair

Two men who have individual
song styles, one a legendary figure
in the big band era and the
other a rising new star, are
being spotlighted this weekend
by Bernie and Mickey Mann,
the owners and operators of the
fashionable Riviera on Mannas -
set Bay, Port Washington, Long
Island.
Saturday night, August 17th,
marks the return of the renowned
Bob Eberle, an historic name
in the annals of all time great
orchestras. Eberle, the personification
of charm and vocal ease,
will front the increasingly popular
All American Band. The
pairing proved so popular recently
that this reunion was an expected
natural before the end
of summer.
The All American Band has
added many new charts to its
repertoire and is now boasting
Klesh
of a library of more than 50
selections, which make up the
very best dance tunes of yesterday
and today. Eberle, in performance,
lets nobody down. Any
request for a song of the fabled
Forties is honored, and much of
the Long Island air will be filled
with the nostalgic tidbits that
were very much a part of Eb-erle's
tenure with the incomparable
Jimmy Dorsey Band of
the halcyon days.
Friday vening, August 16th,
Bernie Mann, trumpet in hand,
will direct the All American
Band with the added embellishment
supplied by Q. Williams,
who has made his presence felt
out at the Riviera in just a few
short weeks. The former Count
Basie vocalist, now out on his
own, seems destined to become
one of the top delineators of
song within the next year.
Producers Lee Guber and Shelly
Gross will present their
production of " The Fantasticks"
for one week only at the West-bury
Music Fair, starting Tuesday
evening, August 20, through
Sunday, August 25.
" The Fantasticks," one of the
best and longest running musicals
in theatrical history, will star
Howard Keel, one of America's
most versatile singing and dramatic
stars and Anna Maria Al-berghetti,
bright young vocal and
dramatic star of TV, Broadway
and the concert stage.
The romantic musical comedy
centers around a young man and
the girl next door, whose parents
have built a wall to keep
them apart. The youngsters

nevertheless contrive to meet
and fall in love.
" The Fantasticks," which gave
the musical world the song, " Try
To Remember," and is now in
its ninth year of performances
off- B'way, will also feature such
outstanding talents as Jack Blan-ton,
Gwyllum Evans, Donald Bab-cock,
Franc Geraci, Edward Gar-rabrandt
and Jeff Roberts. William
Francisco directed with
musical direction under the baton
of Richard Parrinello.
Howard Keel has a wide range
of vocal roles to his credit.
Among them are such exciting
assignments as the romantic lead
in Cole Porter's " Kiss Me Kate,"
" Seven Brides For Seven Brothers"
and " Kismet." Anna Maria
Alberghetti's most recent TV
success was her starring role in
the ABC- TV special, " Kismet."
During her debut in the Broadway
hit musical, " Carnival," Miss
Alberghetti was selected by the
" Ton/' voters as " Best Actress
in a Musical." She also won
equivalent awards for her brilliant
performance with the show
during its appearances on the
road.
" The Fantasticks" will perform
on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Sunday at 8* 30 p. m. The Friday
curtain is at 9: 30 p. m. with two
schows scheduled for Saturday
at 5: 00 p. m. and at 9: 30 p. m.
There will be the usualThurs-day
matinee starting at 2: 00p. m.

of West Babylon, it was
announced by Joseph Falco,
franchised- owner of the salon

in The Great South Bay
Shopping Center.
The latest fashions will be
modelled at the Huntington Town
House, 124 Jericho Turnpike,
Huntington Station on Wednesday,
August 28th at 8: 00 pjn. They
are representative of the collection
selected from the foremost
bridal manufacturers.

Degree Assault
Detective Robert Cullinan of
the Seventh Squad arrested William
Melendez, 17, of 243 Seaford
Avenue, Massapequa, and charged
him with first degree assault.
Melendez is alleged to have
fired eight shots from a 22 calibre
rifle at Robert Bertsch of
7 Cleveland Place, Massapequa.
