Farmingdale High rooters came out in full force last Saturday
but their hopes were dimmed as Herrick* s edged the Dalers 13- 12
after the losers held an early 12- 0 lead.
A host of Massapequa defensive players stop an Oceanside drive
at Massapequa High School last Saturday as the Chiefs held Ocean-side
to one first down and went on to win by a 28- 0 score.
St. Rose Win Pair, Lose One
St. Rose of Lima * C* football
team beat Holy Family by a
13- 0 score.
After a scoreless first half,
Bill Bodkin and Mark Bross
scored on runs of 35 and 30
yards respectively.
The Varsity squad also was
victorious by a 22- 0 score over
St. Raphael's. Vincent Sedelli,
Robert Robertson and Barney
Williams each scored touchdowns.
The Junior varsity lost a close
6- 0 game to St. Ann's and are
now in a three way tie in their
league.

CYO Basketball Registration
Registration for a St. Rose of
Lima CYO basketball will beheld
on Monday, October 21 at the
auditorium between the hours of

The senior citizen's division
of the Oyster Bay Department of
Recreation and Community Activities
is forming a Senior Citizens'
Men Club.
The initial meeting will be held
Monday, October 21 at 1 p. m. at
the Police Boy's Club, 77 Main
Parkway, Plainview. All men who
are town residents and 55 years
of age or over, are eligible to join
this club whose main purpose is
to meet the needs and desires of
retired men.
Bisons/ Chiefs Keep Winning;
Dalers, Devils Edged
Berner and Massapequa High
School football teams posted impressive
wins as Plainedge and
Farmingdale both lost in close
football battles last Saturday.
Berner romped to an easy 34- 0
victory over Long Beach after a
close 7- 0 first half.
In the third quarter, Bud Fen-nessy
broke open the contest by
scoring twice on runs of 26 and
35 yards. Steve Arata scored
on a 96 yard jaunt in the fourth
period and Brian Connelly concluded
the Bison scoring on a
three yard burst.
Coach Bill Brown's Bisons will
play host to Freeport this Saturday
at 1: 30 p. m. The visitors
were the last team to beat Berner
by a 20- 19 score in 1966.
Massapequa scored three
touchdowns in the first quarter
and coasted to a 28- 0 victory
over Oceanside as they held the
losers to one first down for the
day.

Registrants must be accompanied
by a parent. A $ 5 fee will
be charged.
An 85 scoring pass from Pat
Olson to Steve McDonald set the
game pattern. Olson who completed
14 out of 18 pass attempts,
then found Richard Som-mers
for a ten yard scoring
pass play. A surprise Steve
McDonald to Jon Ambert 59 yard
pass closed out the first
period scoring.
In the fourth period, McDonald
tallied on a four yard burst as
the Chief's played ball control
with Tom 3ried gaining 97 yards
in 23 carries.
The Chief's travel to Lawrence
this Saturday.
Farmingdale held 6- 0 and 12- 7
leads after the first two quarters
but went scoreless in the
second half as Herricks pulled
out a close 13- 12 win with a
score in the third period.
The Dalers Steve Moltisanti
scored first on a nine yard rollout
and fullback Mike Magid ran
ten yards for the second score.
A bad pass from center on a
placement kick attempt later
proved costly as the Dalers were
unable to convert either point
after their touchdowns. A piling
on penalty after a fourth down
had apparently failed, cost the
Dalers the ball and allowed Herricks
to score their winning
touchdown.

play Clarke this Saturday in an
away league game.
A blocked kick for the extra
point cost Plainedge High at least
a tie, as the Red Devils were
edged 7- 6 by MacArthur last Saturday
on the winners field.
Plainedge trailed 7- 0 after one
quarter of play. A Rich Silver
to Mike Laurent! 35 yard pass
play gave Plainedge their only
score. The blocked kick followed.
Herricks will play host to the
Red D2vils this Saturday in a
game slated for 1: 30 p. m.
Activities will include woodworking,
photography, card playing,
billiards and special hunting
and fishing trips.
The senior citizen's division is
also starting oil painting classes
on Tuesday from 10 a. m. til noon
and bridge lessons on Monday at
1 p. m. given free at the Syosset-
Woodbury Community Center.

Mustangs Win Four On Road;
Upsets Mark Town League Action
All four traveling teams
turned in league victories but
upsets marked Mustang Town
leagues action this past weekend.
In the 9- 10 Year Old Town
League, the first place Vikings
were bumped out of first place
by the Cardinals by a 13- 6 score,,
In the 11- 12 Year Old Town
League, the Lions cemented their
hold on first place by besting
the Redskir^ 13- 8.
Stunning victories were posted
by the Midgets and PeeWees in
away LIMFOL games. The 12-
year- olds were in Hempstead,
where they roared back in the
final quarter to beat the home
team 20- 19 and preserve an unbeaten
record. The 10- year- olds,
behind 6- 0 at the half in Syosset
rallied to win, 13- 6.
Mike O'Neill was the spark
the Midgets needed as they registered
all 20 of their points in
the final period. He scored a
pair of touchdowns and two extra

of first place with a 26- 0 win
over the Chargers. Arthur Kumm,
Keith Michael is, Jack Kearney
and Peter Angerame got the Jet

The Giants shutout the Packers
12- 0 as Billy Mallon and John
McKeon hit paydirt.
The Steelers rang up a 26- 7
win over the Raiders. Russ Hurst
tallied 12 points.
In the Lion's victory, John
Tellekamp passed to Bob Dolan
for one and to Mitch McKee for
scores. Peterson cut off a
final Redskin drive with an interception
in the final minute.
The Redskins were led by Pete
Galassoi " Who intercepted a pass
for a score and Dan Silvestro^;
who made an end zone tackle for
a two- point safety.
The Eagles rolled over the Dolphins,
30- 0. Kevin Finley scored
twice, Tom Carey, Steve Alter
and Frank Prine eac/ tallied once.
In the Falcon 6- 0 win over the
Bears, a pass from Pat McCann
to Marc Bresky was the game's
only socre.
Art Exhibit At State Park
The Nineteenth annual Amateur
Art Exhibit, sponsored by the
Long Island State Park Commission,
will be held at the Beth-page
State Park Clubhouse from
Thursday, October 17, to Sunday,
October 20. Exhibit hours will
be from 10 a. m. to 9 p. m. daily
except Sunday. The exhibit will
close on Sunday following presentation
of awards at 2 p. m.
Amateur painters may enter
the exhibit which is centered on
two main fields- oil and water
color. The exhibit will also
feature sculpture.
Those wishing to exhibit may
do so by writing to the Director
of Special Events, Jones Beach
State Park for the required application
form.
