Airman First Class Dante
Marrazzo Jr., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Dante Marrazzo of 28 Lois
Lane, Farmingdale, has been
recognized for helping his unit
earn the United States Air Force
Outstanding Unit Award.
Airman Marrazzo, a security
policeman in the 49th Tactical
Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem Air
Base, Germany, will wear the
distinctive service ribbon as a
permanent decoration.
His unit was cited for out­standing
achievement in main­taining
its combat readiness
while converting from the use of
the F- 105 Thunderchief to the
newer F- 4 Phantom. The three
fighter squadrons of the wing flew
10,954 missions without an
accident or incident during the
complex transition. During the
same period the wing earned 10
different awards for safety and
outstanding accomplishment.
The airman, a graduate of
Farmingdale High School, at­tended
Hofstra University.
Second Lieutenant Carl M.
Rosenberger, 21, a 1968graduate
of the University of Dayton, Ohio,
received his Army commission
through the Reserve Officers'
Training Corps Program at the
school.
An ROTC cadet, LL Rosen­berger,
is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Rosenberger, 83 Avoca
Ave., Massapequa.
He is a member of Scabbard
and Blade society.

in Company A, 2nd Battalion of
the Fourth Infantry Division's
8th Infantry.

John Lombardo, son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. Lombardo of 442 Park
Lane, Massapequa Park, is serv­ing
with the seventh Engineer
Battalion in Vietnam.
His unit, a part of the First
Marine Division, operates in sup­port
of the division's infantry
units detecting and clearing mine,
fields, destroying caves, tunnels
and other enemy fortifications.

Captain Robert E. Gallo ( left), United States Air Force F- 100
Super Sabre pilot from Farmingdale, is decorated with the Dis­tinguished
Flying Cross at TuyHoa Air Base, Vietnam. The 26- year-old
tactical fighter pilot was cited for his heroic achievement in
skillfully placing his munitions within little more than 25 yards of his
allies to pound North Vietnamese regulars during ground fighting
west of Tuy Hoa. Captain Gallo braved intense enemy fire to bring
his supersonic jet in for repeated low passes and precision mark-manship
that inflicted a major defeat to the enemy and saved the
lives of many Vietnamese troops. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert E. Gallo, 65 Nelson St, Farmingdale and a 1959 graduate of
W. E. Howitt High School. The captain received his B. S. degree in
aeronautics at Parks College of St. Louis University, where he was
commissioned. His wife, Francis, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Oelschlager, 7 Fourth St., Farmingdale. Colonel William
Evans, 31st wing commander, pins the medal.
