Willie Mosconi, Former Worlds Champ
To Give Billiard Exhibition
Willie Moscopi, who is • r e garded
by many as the greatest
pocket billiard player of all time,
will give an exhibition performance
on Thursday February 8
at Rack * n' Run Billiards at
5135 Merrick Road in Massape-qya
Park.
Ever since he took up billiards
in spite of his father's
insistance that he go into show
business, Willie has been in a
class by himself. He has captured
the World's Cahmpionship
15 times, won the Masters three
times anid set an alltime mark
of pocketing 526 in a row,
Ever since the resurgence of
pocket billiards Willie has been
kept busy giving exhibitions all
oyer the nation.
" We are proud that Mosconi
will be at the lounge beginning
at 4 p. m. and again at 7: 30p. m."
said Bob Sieber the new proprietor
of the establishment
which is located in the Crown
Village Center.
^' We are planning to have the
greatest players in the game today
compete here and I can
think of no better man to have
as the first star then Willie
Mosconi. It is the Mosconi's
credit that he can travel all
over the country and give exhibitions
almost nightly and still
come up with new trick shots
that keep the fans yelling for
more."
Willie, now 54, keeps himself
fit for the long, hard exhibition
grind. He also keeps developing
new shots. One of his
favorites is the " machine gun"
in which he uses a force follow
with side " English" which
caroms the cue ball off all 15
object balls before counting on
a corner pocket shot.
In recent exhibition performances
Willie has gone over
the 200- run mark several times.
The man who broke in bybeat-ing
Ralph Greenleaf in 50 of 107
matches still captivates the audiences
as he did when he was
first showing his colors.
