SCOUTS TAKE OVER 1,034 Farmingdale Boy Scouts, Cubs and Explorers are observing
Scout Week marking the 58th anniversary with the
theme ' Scouting Rounds Out A Guy.'
On Sunday, the youngsters in uniform and their adult leaders
will attend church, Scouts of Jewish faith will attend Sabbath
services Friday evening and Saturday.
The observance this year recognizes leaders of the community
in government, business, education, and civic organizations
who were once Boy Scouts.
In recognition of the anniversary, some merchants have given
Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Explorers the use of store windows
and space in shopping centers for displays of handicraft and
to demonstrate the skills they acquire in Scouting.
Boy Scout Week also will be recognized in school assemblies
through flag ceremonies, acts and stunts by Cub Scouts, exhibits
of Scoutcraft by Boy Scouts, demonstrations of Scouting
skills and talks by all Scouts.
Village Discusses Pros And Cons Of RR Grade Elimination
Farmingdale Village Engineer,
Chester Voorhis met with the
Farmingdale Board of Trustees
to discuss the forthcoming Long
Island Railroad plans for a rapid
transit service and grade elimination
in the area. It was determined
that before the State's
plans became too finalized, it
would be wise to be prepared
to submit to the Public Service
Con, mission any special demands
to benefit Farmingdale. One point
was determined Monday night,
namely that Farmingdale should
demand certain road widths.
It was learned that the central
branch plans were contemplated
for construction 1970- 71
and the Main branch in 1973- 74
and both would run through Farmingdale.
Asking for a depressed grade
crossing instead of an elevated
one did not seem practical, according
to the engineer due to
the higher costs for depressing
the railroad and problems of
water mainr and the space needed
tor the project.

that the F- 105 Thunderchief fighter- bomber is the
" workhorse" of the air. war over North Vietnam. Republic
employees made the F- 105 fighter- bomber for the United
States Air Force.
