Santa Claus will be paying an
early visit to Long Island again
this year, thanks to the Long
Island Railroad. According - to
LIRR passenger services
director Harold Throop, the
LIRR will offer special Ladies
Day bargain fares every weekday
during December to accommodate
holiday shoppers and
theatre- goers.
Savings of up to 45 percent on
round- trip tickets will be
available through Thursday,
December 31. Ladies Day tickets
normally are sold on Wednesdays
and Thursdays.
The only restriction, Throop
said, would be that the special
Ladies Day tickets are good on
any trains arriving in New York
after 10 AM. There is no
limitation on the return during
the afternoon or evening hours.
" Shoppers will be able to stay
late to take advantage of the
Manhattan stores' late Christmas
hours," Throop stated.
The special tickets may be
obtained from all stations as far
east as Patchogue, Ronkonkoma
and Port Jefferson. The bargain
fares are also extended to
children from 5 to 11 years and
are about one- half the Ladies Day
ticket rates.
Special excursion fares, with
similar savings, will be available
each weekend, Christmas Day
and on New Year's Day.

Presenting the check is Frank Cole, Chairman of the
high school art department, and Miss De Lalio's teacher. Other prize
winners in the Farmingdale competition were Joseph Vasiento, who
received the $ 5 award and William Gonzowski, winner of the $ 10
prize.
