RESERVE BOARO CffiCISION Mm BISINESS; LOANS TO K MORE EASILY OBTAINED
Washington, June S2.—A boom to bustneas will be hastMied by a decision of Federal Reserve banks to cut re¬ discount rate.f. Ofllcials are Arm in this opinion. Money will l>e more readily available to borrowers at easier rates.
The Pederal Res^i^cie Board has re¬ ports from all districts iriiowing urgent demand for new fimds. A great amount of domestic devalopment work, requiring new Capital, is reported to Preiudent Harding.
With easier money market condi¬ tions fiovernment flscal authorities in r-ommunicatloas to bankers have stress- I'd th*- necessity of giving priority to Ameiican enterprises. The Pederal Re- ¦*rve Board has scented danger in the tendency of some banking ttuarters to give heed to tbe demands of foreign enterprises.
From reports to the> Board, official.'* learn that many foreign concerns have shafwd their affah* With a^^ieW to '.>btaining their flnanciai supiK>rt from Aint^rit-an bankers.
Member lianks of the Federal Rc- .<erve system have been cautioned that ;hl8 foreign demaad creates a situi^ tion which may be fraught with danger to Ameiican Industrial and ag¬ ricultural interests unless bankers carefully conserve .surplus resoun-es for the lieneflt of American concerns.
The att'itudc of Oovernment fiscal of¬ flcers, made i>laln in latest bulletins to bankers, reflects a purpose to look out for "America first," and to-v avoid highly speculative ventures, involving the tioing up of American credit thut .should lie employed in so-called essen¬ tial industries af; home.
Greater flnanciai strength of the reserve banking system, offlclals said, reflects to a notable degree the man¬ ner in which llQuidation has proceeded since inflation was at its peak less than a ypar ago. Oflicials beiievt? liquidation ha.s reached near tho nor¬ mal point in many lines of business.
The public scbool doslac eBlartain'^ ment waa bald oa Monday evcabis in Pire Hall:' The cxercisss, driHV aad plays were very cradUable. Tha eTm- Ing was a source of pleasure Ur>»all who attended.
