MERRICK
It wns wonderful, Monday evening, to see sixty young people of Merrick all dolled up in Sunday-go-to-meetin' clothes, their faces flushed and glowing with pleasure ahd good-will, all on the tip-tne of expectancy at the presentation to he mode to Mr. Skrend.a and Mrs. Ives.
William 8. Christy, faithful guardian of Merrick's young folks, had got aft«'r the yoimgsters by mail and asked each for 2f> cents towards tho prosent. They jusl cluttered up his home, coming with their ouartors und oagor to givo more.
The young people work together in harmony; and parents encourage them, for Merrick Is giving them, through Mr. Christy, wholesome recreation. The now establhthed feature in connection with the work of the Church of the Redeemer, Mr. Christy's "Hong and Praise Hervice" for the young people of MerrU'k, Is already showing signs of benefit.
MR. AND MRS. SAWYER RETURN FROM TRIP-4(EW ENGLAND TO MONTREAL
Rockville Centre, June 14.—Mr. and Mrs. W. F. .Sawyer roturned to their hom* In Forest avenue yesterd»»iy after a delightful trip through New England, a part of Canada and via the J.Ake and Hudson River route. They visited In Springfield, Mass., and High Oatc, Ver¬ mont. From Rt. Allian's, Vt., they motored through a fascinating country to Montreal. The return was via I^akes Champlain and Oeorge and the Hudson Valley.
It was noticed that through New Kngland, particularly in Vermont, the j>otntoe8 seemed far more advanced In growth than on I>ong Island. This la partly accounted for, in Mr. Sawyer's opinion, by the fact that there haa beon no drought in the further north roKlon.
"LOHA BUNK"*IN FREEPORT PROMISES MUCH PLEASURE
The writer had the pleasure to meet two of Freeport's "newsies" last Satur¬ day—Master Isldor Kramer and his sister, Bertha; she complimented "Honest Izzle" and encouraged little Bertha, who looked somewhat tiredh but another little Kramer, who always chatted with her last winter while wait¬ ing for trains, was Tnisscd. U|>on In- qtiiry It waa learned that she, little Edith Kramer, la 111. and as Bertha de¬ clared, "Her cheeks are awfully white." Edith no longer sells Reviews but has to remain at home.
A suggestion from the writer: T.«t'8 all "chip in" nnd give the Froe¬ port "newsies" an outing and let us try to bring bock the color in Edith's cheeks; she was such a faithful little "newsle" in ail kinds of weather—and now!

Lynbrook, Jnne H.—Tho Board of Trade of 14T)bro<JlELh&s nWlle arranfre¬ ments io observe Thursday, June 2S. as Dollar Day in Lynbrook. In so do¬ ing the committee in charge of the matter has secured the henrty co-op¬ eration of practically every businesa place in the village. Flfty-»ix mer¬ chants will do all they can to bring trade to Lynbrook on that .lay and. better .still, to give the most favoi-able impression aa to Lynbrook's shopping facilities.
President William .^chratwei.sor, of the Board of Trade, has this commit too working for Dollar Day; ti. l.ovi- aon. chairman; J. L. Stanley, ca.Mhior of the Lynbrook Bank, troa.surer; Jo¬ seph Lovy, secretary; E. M. .fckormnri nnd William Lissnor.
Tlio 'committee ha-n boort Immon.soly plen.sed' with the supr»ort and co-opora- tion givon by men engageil in ovory line of bu.sine.9s represented 4n the villago.
It has boon a revelation to find such cordial community .spirit nnd .such strong determination to m.-iko tlio com¬ ing Dollar Day a means of widening the fame of the vlllii^e.
With individual contributions In ac- corilanco with the relative lmi)ortance of o.ich house, there has i>een a fund of IR.non accumulated for publicity. This is already carefully provided for, with deflnlto appropriations for advoi- tising in several ways.
One feature, in addition to the news¬ paper publicity, will bo a number of attractive and .sliowy gold .signs. The tendency will be to .show where you see the gold sign.
No ono in T,ynbrook .sny.s "don't .'^hoji where you don't soe a gold .sltrn." This la not th.'it sort of a campaign. It i.s a boost for the wliolo villafro and it is desl^d th.Tt those who do not now know Lynbrook well, shall come into tho village, on I'>ollar Day particularly. and find out what n neighborly, bus! ne.ssUko, thrivins village it is.
Some of the storokeepens, in their eagerness to make the Dollar Dny i" Lynbrook memorable, have secured conces.sions from manufaoturor-s, so that they will on that day be able to offer .standard good.s at lo.ss than the usual wholesale rates.
p:ach store will havo it.s own little. surprises in concessions to shoppers and there is considerable good natund .rivalry in the effort to select Ihe most attractive ofterlng.s. ^ ^
In addition to tbo bargains ofTerod in trade during tbe day th« Board ot Trade has Arraagad to give 100 pnteen. Them wiil be absolutelr free, and with¬ out any connection what-ver «ifh pnr- cha.sea. Coupons bearing v.-.rbeM ai-e fo be di.strlbuJed throughout the area that may be expected to show an In¬ terest in i:>ollar I*»y nt Lynbrook. One hundred) of theae numbers will draw priees. In order to get a prize it is necessary only to possess the coupon bearing th* priee winning number.
Arrangements have been made for delivery of large packages from any or all of the stores, as if is anticipated that btiyers will wi.sh to purchase more than they can convenleifttly carry.
