You don't often see It In full, but the right name of th© elderly gentleman we all know so well is Uflcle W. Sam.
What dooM llio Initial letter stand for?
Oh. that's because his full name is Uncle Waste Sam. Hia middle name is Waste.
There is no doubt about it. You see it verywhere. Most counlriea would pretty " nearly live on the th'.ngs we wtisto.

It is so in most horacH and in many barns and flelds. Waste in greater or lesser degree. Yes, his middle initial is W.
Some of the legislators are now wondering whether they want to make another run. 8onie of them undoubtctdly will and others will feel that they have their (ihare of law-making, Thc in¬ cruased compensation, or possibility of it, may regulate the thoughlH of some.

Kdltor Ually Review: Dear Sir:
Allow me to present the amount of work accomplished by the Orade pupils of the four Freeport HchoolH. It no doubt reprcHcnts the greater amount of work dune In the cleanup campai^m,
-Most all the pdpil.s flrst cleaned up their own yards which in itself was quite a task.
Next on thc program wa.s thc listing of untidy yard.s ii^thc varioun districts. Seaman Avenue School going to,Colum¬ bus Avenue District apd Archer sTicet j>upllH going to Cfiovc Street District, This wa.s done by the competing schools for a prize. »
Seaman avenue captured flr.st prize from t.'olumbuH nvonuo and I! rove street won frjjm Archer'"'street. After personal In.siieclion of the variou.s dist¬ ricts by the Health Officer and Medical Inspector it was decided that the loos¬ ing schools had accomplished sucli good worlt that the prizes were given alike to winner and loser.
The majority of yaitis donned wero accomi>lished by tho pupils themselves, through their own efflcient ormmization, for when Kreepoit pupils start they aro ulwiiys in a position lo iiut tlirough any (io to almost any ' "^¦'^'''' hnprovenient they nuiy Wo called Upon lo handle.
I am .surprised that many of our villages fall to a|)prcclalo tlu^ elflciont help and enthusiasm of their coming citizens.
Next year they will report with tho Hiimo good results, and 1 can state from experience that they will be eager to do so each spring. ;
A short trip around lown will readily convince ono thnt wc have a very clean village and can compare it to any other on .Long Island.

Editor Daily Itevicw: Dear Sir:
Just a few lines to tell you what I think of The Dally Review.
I flnd it a home paper in thc true

In California is a place called Death

lhey wcro plentifully supplied with water and probably ice, too.
Away—away out in the desert they met two gold prosiK>ctors with an old horse and a rickety wagon. One of the prospectors was lying in Iho wagon, suffering from blood poisoning, an* hla partner was taking liim out for nn operathm. They were still ilays from the railrtHid and tho sick man would liavr- been a dead inUn ln'torc thoy (;ould have reached it.
But in tho Schwab party was Dr. Jiin Brown, of IMttsburgh, ono of the na¬ tion's greatest surgeons. Out in that desolate region, oi^t thero in tho vaat solitudes uf tlw burning desert, Dik- Brown iK-rformed thc delicate operation that was so dcsiicralely needed and saved Uie llfo of one of those heroic spirits who aro coiiHtanlly adding to tlic world's wealth and helping lo make Ufa-at least a little mort- ioinfortnble every one of us.

.Vt flrst 1 was aketcheil about the now daily—thought it was unnece,s.sary when one had the New York papers, but—I was wrong. The Review Is OUR paper and we look for It now and want it and mi.ss It when we cannot got it or else are disappointed and impatient If it does not- come on time. There may be one or t?vo "grouchy" persons in town who declare they have no uho for it—do not want it; but tliat is not Iho Review's fault, for The Review Is all right; the fault flndlng Individual i.s to be pitied. He enjoys nothing in life, not even our bright, newsy, up-to-date Nassau County home paper.
Here's luck, prosperity and a Ions brillUmt career for our paper and for all connected with it!
• Sincerely,
Elsie Hess.

Labor conditions, according to thc late.st reports, seem to be bettor in Ijonn I.sland than in almo.st any other part ot the couatry. The automobile tratie has picked up and about the usual planting is being done in the West, but general factory coiiditi(jns are bad ami work in tho Soulh ia very bad. Colored laljor there is working for a dollai" a tiay and glad to get that, and thore is little work for skilled labor.
If wages here can be kpt at a normal and modrato rate it will be po.ssible to secue a better class of i)eiTnanent work¬ ers and there will be less dissatistai'tion and labor unrest. There sooms to be small (;hanee. ot general conditions be¬ coming better for a year or two, but a gi-adual readjustment here should make it po.ssible to avoid another slum)) next winter.
