Klleen Percy a star of fllmdon, who has been selected by Eugene Lee as one of the best-fitted to represent the Ameri¬ can Legion, has been asked to come to Freeport Memorial Day and take part In tho Legion services. Miss Percy will be seen at the benefit Tue.sday in that BOUl-ab.Morblng, thriller, "The Land of Jaaz."
The other big reel that will be shown for the Legion boya and their friends i.s a pretty tale of rural France In thnt trying perlo<3 just after the World War, when with chaos and destruction on every hand the simple folk, with great f.alth In thefuturo and with a thrill of triumph at having beaten their long- hated enemy, the Hun, bent to the task, reconstructing their shattered land. . There will be performances at 7.30 and 9.30 p.m. Kugene Lee is chairman of the entertainment committee. The fast-accumulating admission fees will be used some day In providing a real home for the po.st.
This benefit Is ono of many things that the Legion conteniplated. The members are out to raise money all by thenwelves, and to give the public full value for any financial aid.
The entertainment committee has been thinking up ways and meanis of raising money during the summer, and all sorts of plana are under advisement. One is to hire Belmont Parte and mn off a iiham battle and an old Roman chariot race; another Is to take over" Mitchel Field for one day and stage an aerial drcua, Including dropping bombs from a plane and blowing up a paper tiag.
