Mineola, May 21.—Charles H. Verity has brought suit against John Herbert for 12,500 damages for alleged slander- ous statements. Both men live In Baldwin and the statement is aald to have been 'mode in the presence of othera, whereby Mr. Verity ctehns damages.
The case came before Justice Mac¬ Crate yesterday. He directed 'that a jury be drawn. The case is to be tried today. c
