Krcctiort. March 2t. — A boathotisel burglar escaped the clntcheM of theilaw late Friday night by a clever ruse.
Patrolman Prank Fisher waa on duty In the vicinity of Bajvlew and Atlantic avenues when he saw a man tarrying a suit caae. The olBcer spoke to him. The stranger became quite friendly and 'Walked along with the oBlcer. He gave hi^ name as Henry Smith and said he lived at 130 South Bayview avenue. He answered other questions satisfaotorily and thus allayed suaplcldn. Officer Fisher, however, has a canny sense of police duties. He was a^t entirely sat- lafled and watched fthe hiah after he had started, presumably, for his home.
Following him, he saw him go into the bushes off the road. Immediately Fisher's suspicions were confirmed and ho gave chase.
A. W. Galllenne, who was passing. was requested to call police Jtj*aiquar- ters while Fisher went after the man. Fisher .soon sttimblcd over the .suitcase that "Smith" ha«J been carrying. He took It back to the street and opened It. Addiflonal offlcers had arrived by this time and the bushes were searched. No trace of the fugitive was found.
Clarence Lewis, who was coming in another direction, waa startled to see a ipan dash out of bushes near bim and go oft at a tangent. Not knowing the clr<fllm.stances he did not ti-y to inter¬ cept him. It was "Smith" escaping from the t>ol'ce.
In the suitcase were saws, rubber boots, fishing tackle, and the shaft off a motor boat that had been cut off.
All of tho property was identified by I). Wesley Pine ot Pine street. It had been taken from his boathouse on the Woodcleft Canal. Mr. Pine's name was stamped on one of the saws.
The epi.sodo happened alxiut 11.15 o'clock, as the Village Hoard meeting was breaking up.
Tho man was of medium height, young, and wore rubber boots.

opportunities'
You probably realize that you have allowed many opportunities to slip by you ln,the course of a life time.
You know that many of these opportunities if .seized at the right moment would perchance have made you independent for life. Others would at least have brought you lucrative return. •
Yesterday can never be recalled. Tho opportuni¬ ties passed are gone forever.
